About 45 minutes west of Denver
sits the old mining town of Idaho Springs. While the town is no longer a popular place for panning for gold, it is still a popular place for visitors and vacationers. The town still has a historic and preserved feel as you stroll along the streets.
Popular attractions in Idaho Springs include touring the mines, dining and shopping in the town, and of course a dip in the mineral rich waters of the hot springs. At the Indian Springs Resort, you can stay over to get the most out of the hot springs, or just visit the springs and caves for a great experience on your own. Another popular nearby location is Mount Evans, where visitors view wildlife and take in scenic views.
Idaho Springs is also a popular skiing area, along with nearby resort towns like Eldora
and Winter Park
. Vacationers also love the nearby Arapaho National Forest and White River National Forest where outdoor activities abound. Visitors can hike, bike, rock climb and more.
